Day 3-4
Day 3 is spent googling and talking to neighbours about the best way to support the section of the outside wall that we have to rebuild while building.
We had read that building a temporary wall in the basement would do the trick. But we had also read that a few people used lally columns (those ugly metal posts that go in basements) with a beam as a truss. We also read that a 4x4 post becomes way stronger if sandwiched between two 2x6s, so that's what we did on Day 4. This picture is the beam Jonnie built. |
