Day 6: The Day of Reckoning.
This is the day we cut the top plate, studs and sill plate and hope to hell the house doesn't come crashing down!
This is Jonnie nervously cutting through the 'last stud standing'. This worried him quite a bit, because above this stud was the only unsupported house joist we had. We were going to leave the last 2-3 studs to the right (that's why the support beams we put in the house didn't go that far) but our neighbour Mark rightly suggested we take out the entire existing sill and top plates, which made sense. |
