Day 6: The Day of Reckoning.
This is the day that we cut the top plate, studs and sill plate and hope to hell the house doesn't come crashing down!
Jonnie is nervously cutting through the 'last stud standing'. This worried him quite a bit, because above this stud was the only unsupported house joist we had. We were going to leave the last 2-3 studs to the right, so the support beam we created in the house didn't go all the way to the right. But our neighbour Mark rightly suggested we take out the entire existing sill and top plates, which made sense. |
