For all the other holes, we would put in a sonatube and eyeball whether it was in line with the centre marks on the house, and the painted centre mark of the undug hole. Then Don would know whether or not he had to dig a bit more on one side of a hole. But once those last holes are dug, you lose your reference point! So it is very important when doing the layout to go as far back from the site as possible, where no pile of earth or machinery would get in the way of keeping all your reference points. Lesson learned. |
