More rot protection. We left space between where the 12f and 6f beams meet on the post, again for water evacuation. But this may have been unecessary, as we are going to add flashing to the top of the beams where ever they sit on posts. Why? Well...
The two outer beams are sitting on those metal beam hangers, elevating them a bit. The middle beam, however, is sitting directly on the post. Water can puddle around it and not go anywhere. If we put flashing on the top of the beam where it sits on a post, we are avoiding water getting there at all. Seems like a good plan. |
