  It occurred to us that we had a weak spot in our rot resistent deck. The position where the beams sit on the post was an issue. Because we created the beams with spacers, it means water can flow through the beam. This is good. But water can also flow through the beam where it will fall on the end grain of the post. Not so good.

We figured we would flash that area. We have aluminum flashing and it can't touch the new copper based pressure treated lumber, so we put down some duct tape first.
