Add an Existing Magazine to a Zone

There are a few reasons for adding a reference to an existing magazine:

  • You accidentally removed a magazine, and want it back.
  • You have content that only plays once or twice per year (Christmas Holidays, perhaps), and rather than have the magazine sit in the tree all year, you prefer to remove it and then add it again when it is time for it to play again.
  • You want to share content between multiple screens or playbacks, so that different screens or playbacks are all playing the same zone on air. You must ensure that the following conditions are met:
  • both zones that the magazine belongs to must be the same size (because when a zone is resized, all pages are modified accordingly, and if the other zone is not re-sized, the content will not 'fit' in one of the zones); and
  • Both zones should have the same zone background (for web-based systems) or all content should have no background (for Audience.playback.tv and Audience.playaback.sign systems).
  • For a more effective way of sharing content between screens or playbacks, see Set-up Multiple Playbacks.

To add an existing magazine to a zone:

1.First find the name (not the title) of the magazine you want to share. To do that, select the magazine in the tree, right click and select “Properties”. Note the magazine file name.

2.In the tree, right click on the zone into which you want to add the magazine and select “Add Reference”.

3.Select the magazine from the list.

You can add magazines to other zones, other screens, or other playbacks, as long as the zones containing the shared magazine have the exact same dimensions.
