You are here: Content Creation > Audience Settings > MediaScreen

MediaScreen

In Audience.foundation, go to File > Audience Settings.

The MediaScreen program location will be filled in automatically when Audience.foundation is installed. Do not edit unless advised to do so by technical support.

The Enable MediaScreen option is used to enable all outputs except web-based outputs. Keep this box checked in order to broadcast your currently selected on air playback, or if you are using this Audience.foundation system as a Master Creation system for a network of remote Audience.playback systems.

Output Mode: mono or stereo

You must select ‘none’ as the current on-air playback before modifying this setting.

The output mode allows for previewing content in either stereo or mono, allowing Audience.foundation to control/preview either type of playback.

Stereo is for 3-D playback. When in ‘stereo’ mode, both normal ‘mono’ video and 3d side by side ‘stereo’ video / MNG’s can be intermixed.  If using ‘mono’ content, the VideoEffect in the page should be set to ‘DVE’ as it has in the past. When using ‘stereo’ video content, the VideoEffect should be set to ‘video3d’.

Note: ‘video3d’: Although the HDMI 1.4 and Cable Labs specifications dictate that in SideBySide encoding the left eye view should be the left half frame and the right eye view the right half frame some SideBySide content is the opposite.  To handle this, use the ‘video3dreverse VideoEffect.

Output Monitor: dual-head support

Most ATI and Nvidia cards support dual-head operation.  In Win7, this shows up in the Screen Resolution menu.  If you attach 2 monitors, Windows will detect that you have 2 displays, and allow you to either duplicate the desktop on both screens or ‘Expand’ the desktop across both screens.

Both monitors should be the same aspect ratio, and have the same native resolution.

To set it up;

  • Connect a 2nd monitor to the VGA card
  • Right click on the desktop and choose ‘Screen Resolution’
  • 2 monitors displayed will be displayed.  Beside the Multiple Monitor control, choose ‘Extend these displays’.
  • By default, Monitor1 is your primary monitor. Accept this default.
  • Close the screen resolution dialogue.
  • Start Audience.foundation, make sure the on-air playback is ‘none’.
  • Navigate to File > Audience.settings, and under the MediaScreen pane choose the ‘Monitor2’ radio button.
  • Select a playback in the on-air dropdown.  The display should appear on the 2nd monitor (in windowed mode).

Limitations

While displaying on the 2nd head, you cannot use Exclusive (fullscreen) mode.
