Audience.playback
Audience.playback is a stand-alone player that receives its content from an Audience.foundation system (the 'Master System') via the Audience.sync communication software module.
The Audience.playback systems come in a variety of configurations to suit individual needs:
- Audience.playback.tv uses the x264io card to display identical broadcast video output as the Audience.tv master system.
- Audience.playback.sign uses the computer's VGA card to display high quality output.
- Audience.playback.web is a 'stand-alone' web system whose content is served to the computer's browser from a locally installed Apache web server.
See the Audience Installation sheet that comes with Audience.foundation for details on installing Audience.playback.
- Once the Audience.playback software installation is complete, reboot the computer.
- The Audience.sync configuration will launch. Set the name/ip address/url of the Audience.sync Master, as well as the playback you want synchronized.
- Make sure the Master is configured as a Master system rather than a Stand Alone system. See Set up Audience.sync on the Master System and Set up Audience.sync on a Playback Only System.
Most configuration settings for the playback are either selected when you install the Audience.playback software or through the Audience.foundationinterface.
Under normal circumstances you would configure an Audience.playback.web display using the Audience.foundation Master system. (The steps are outlined in Configure Audience.web on the Master System.) This configuration is copied to the Audience.playback.web system automatically.
Special installations may require that the Audience.playback.web system be configured independently. This type of configuration should only be attempted after consulting technical support.
You can configure your Audience.playback system locally in the following way.
- Go to Start > All Programs > Digimation > Audience.sync configuration. (If your Audience.sync window is visible, you can click File > Configure).
- In the playback tab, un-check ‘Download Audience.web.ini files’. This will break the configuration connection to the Audience.foundation Master system.
- Close the Audience.sync configuration.
- Go to Start > All Programs > Digimation > Audience.web Settings.
- Select the current playback that you’re using for your VGA Audience.playback.web display.
- Edit settings as described in Configure Audience.web on the Master System.
When you install Audience.playback you are asked to select playbacks for syncronization. If you need to modify this, follow these steps:.
- Exit the playback engine.
- Go to Start > All Programs > Digimation > Audience.sync configuration. (If your Audience.sync window is visible, you can select File > Configure).
- Switch to the playback Tab.
- Delete the current playback by deleting it from the playback list and pressing the Delete button.
- Add the new playback by pressing the Add button. Type in the playback name. Note: the playback name must be entered exactly as it is named on the master Audience.foundation system. Select OK.
- Click OK at the bottom of the Audience.sync configuration menu.
- The ‘Update Playback Name’ menu will appear. Click on your new playback name and then:
- For Audience.playback.websystems, click on "Update Audience.playback.web Playback".
- For Audience.playback.sign or Audience.playback.tv systems click on Update Audience.playback.sign Playback.
- Press the Close button.
- Re-boot your playback computer.
If the Master Audience.foundation system was set to synchronize with specific playbacks, you must add the new playback to the Audience.sync settings on the Master Audience.foundation system. See Set up Audience.sync on the Master System.
Define Command and Control Triggers
Command and Control triggers are not copied from the Master Audience.foundation system profile. They must be defined locally on the playback system.
- In the playback engine ( MediaScreen ) menu bar, select File / Configure.
- Define your triggers and scripts as detailed in Command and Control.
